I do know the computer will shut off the fuel pump if there are no ignition reference pulses from the engine (meaning the engine has stalled or isn't running). Almost all Ford products used to have a reset switch somewhere, but I don't think it's common on GM products or for other manufacturers. Could be wrong on this though. 2002 Envoy SLT, 116K.

The Focus MK1 diesel doesn't have the inertia fuel cut off switch you refer to this is only fitted on petrol versions with an electric fuel pump. The diesel doesn't have an electric fuel pump. It may be that you didn't stall the car and a fault has prevented the car from running.
