Red cell indices include 3 tests – Mean Cell Volume (MCV), Mean Cell Hemoglobin (MCH), and Mean Cell Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC). They are also called the “Absolute values” for Red Blood Cells. The Values of MCV, MCH, and MCHC are derived from the values of Hemoglobin, Packed Cell Volume (PCV) or Hematocrit and Red Cell Count.
There are two abnormalities seen in an MCV blood test. The count could be either too high or too low. A drop on the red blood cell volume is often associated to microcytosis. A low MCV would often result to tiredness and fatigue. These results are because the amount of oxygen delivered to the cells are too low as well.
The blood cell count data consisted of absolute counts of erythrocytes (ERY, red blood cells), hematocrit levels (volume percentage of red blood cells, HT), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and
Macrocytosis or a high MCV level in the blood means: Mild macrocytocis (100 - 115 fl in adults): The mean size of the RBCs in the blood is a bit bigger than normal. It is probably that you suffer from anemia and the hemoglobin and the RBC count are lower than normal. A mild macrocytosis may be due to drug interference.

A CBC is a common blood test that measures many parts of your blood, including red blood cells. It is used to check your general health. An MCV test may also be used with other tests to help diagnose or monitor certain blood disorders, including anemia. There are many types of anemia. An MCV test can help diagnose which type of anemia you have.

Talk with your doctor. Jakafi (ruxolitinib) is a brand-name oral tablet that’s prescribed for myelofibrosis, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), and other blood conditions in some adults and 7WcQ.
